BUY now! I was so tried of water burning on the stove when the pot boiled over, so I thought I’d try these... they are great! Easy clean up! You do have to use two hands and remove carefully not to spill! I have found it’s best to remove from heat and then remove! These are awesome!
These spill stopper lid covers are amazing and leave my stove top mess free. I will be purchasing a set for my mom.
i used this a few times now for making pasta, especially after adding the pasta into boiling water, this lid works great to keep the heat in and i don't have to worry about the foamy water boiling over the pot and onto the stove. i love how i can get a rolling boil in the water and i feel this helps cook the pasta faster as i test by texture and not merely by time.
Thankfully there are the two little round 'handle's on the lid so that i can use tongs to lift up the lid on one side and let it drain back into the pot before removing the lid.
Delivers what it promises! Pro Tip: make noodles and steam veg at the same time. This product saves me from letting an over-boil ruin toddler kitchen dance parties!
Kept one for myself and gave my son the other. Used it many times over the 2019 holidays and since then as well. Really works!!! Keeps the water from boiling over. Even if it is bubbling up through the center 'flower', no liquid seeps out between the pot rim and the Spill Stopper Lid!! Awesome! I have even used it in place of a spatter screen. Easy to clean!
I don't know why I didn't buy something like this years ago. I cannot tell you how many times my pasta water has overflowed creating a mess on the stove top for me to clean. The thing about pasta is you need it to come to a roiling boil but then it has a tendency to boil over unless I stand there watching it, which I never do, thus my problem. These lids really work and it's easy to lift an edge to stir the pasta. Clean up is really easy on these lids and I tend to use them also as a spoon rest when I'm done using them on the pot and am draining the pasta and adding the sauce. I have also tried these in the microwave but they work best on containers that leave a gap between the food and the lid. In other words, not good for plates but good for bowls. I recommend this for every kitchen and am giving one of these lids to my daughter to use in her dorm apartment at college.
The Spill Stopper really works. Just out of curiosity, I brought an almost full pot of water to a rolling boil and placed the lid on it. I kept the burner on high to keep the water boiling and not once did it boil over. The water would come up into the lid cover, but the yellow disc would break up the excess foam and liquid and never boiled over onto my stove.
